Compress PDF App Reviews

Doesn’t work for some of my PDFs!

For some of my files; I get the following message, even after trying all options (including the 50 DPI one) “Could not reduce file size” Works for most of my other files. Ah well.

Avoid - waste of time and money

I tried this application on a PDF which was around 9Mb. After using the maximum compression, the size was nearly the same (8.4 Mb)! Then using adobe acrobat, I used the File/Save As Other.../Reduce Size PDF… this reduced the PDF to only 230 Kb (about 40 times smaller!) Not impressed at all.

swaps colors

it destroys my pdf files by inverting the colors every time.

It works

Very nice simple program that reduced my file size while not reducing teh readability of the document. I haven’t tried all the options. The default does the job. Thank you

Great - So Far

I have a scanner and the software that comes with it creates very large pdf files. I dont use it very often so I wanted a simple, affordable application to to compress these files. So far, this app does the trick. I use the 96 dpi. for files that I keep on my computer and I use the 150 dpi. option for files I plan to print. So far, the application is great. I also compressed a couple of 3rd party pdfs. I havent used it with really complex files or with a lot of images but typically, I can reduce the file size to one tenth of the original size. So far, no problems so 5 stars.

Excellent Application

As you know, MSN has a cap of 20MB sending limit, well I have used the app to compress a PDF and it worked very well, no problems noticed and I think for the price, who could complain!! Very versatile. GREAT APP!!!!! Thanks!

Works Great

Software is fast and works wonders. However it is a bit pricey for what is does but it saved me countless amounts of times by allowing me to email big assignments of to the profs.

If you have OS X you dont need this app

This app compresses but not very much. If you have OS X you can compress a file in the preview mode. Unfortunately, this app does not offer compress beyond the OS X capabilities.

Waste of money

This app spends 3 minutes to find out that the presentation cannot be compressed because it is already compressed. Well, most of the PowerPoints these days have the images compressed anyway, so what’s the point?

Really like this app

I really like this app, making the file size smaller, and its hard to tell the differences between the original and the compressed one. Well done.

Does a decent job

Ive been trying to scan some documents into PDF, the resulting PDF files are often huge. This app does a decent job at reducing PDF file size, at an impressive speed.

Didnt Work

I bought this to compress a 10MB PDF and all it did was gave me an error message that the file had already been compressed and to reduce the size. Tried every size and got the same error. It didnt work. I am buying another PDF compressor app now.

Highly recommended

i have tried many ways but failed to reduce my PDF file size. This app works perfectly, highly recommended, definitely worth the money.

Works great so far.

I have lots of scanned PDF files, each file is about 2 MB, this simple app reduces the file size to about 160kb, incredible. If the PDF file contains lots of images, the file size usually can be reduced by 50% or more. For some PDF files it fails to compress, saying they are alreasy compressed before, that makes sense.

Poorly designed

I tested this app on a half dozen different PDF files (all text). In only one case did the app manage to reduce the file size (by about 80%) and keep the text legible. In all other cases, it either rendered the text completely illegible or it actually *increased* the file size. What is worse, the program first runs through the whole process of compression (which can take several minutes with large files (ca. 50MB)), and only then tells you that it could not reduce the file size because the file is already compressed. Also, there is no way of stopping a compression process short of quitting the app. $2 wasted.

Awesome Awesome Awesome

I work in real estate and sometimes receive PDFs that are 20 MBs or larger via email. I downloaded, installed and compressed two files with the app in less the 5 minutes. Very pleased

Sleek. Light. Works like a charm.

I no longer have Acrobat Pro to lean on and the option to compress the file size of a PDF in Preview is rather crude; this tasty little bit of software performed perfectly. I had a text-only 1.9 MB, 150-dpi PDF that compressed down to 248 KB (still 150 dpi). Winning. There are several options beyond 150dpi…what would you like? 50 dpi? 96? How would you feel about 300 dpi? In addition to these various resolutions, this software gives you separate options for how youd like your IMAGES handled within your PDF. Light. Simple. Effective. And the UI sports a snazzy grey plaid background. Work it, Gerald Ni!

Junk

Dont buy this if you need to compress a pdf portfolio, it dosent suppor that. May work for very basic pdf files, but it ruins complex multi-page pdf files. I think this software trys to compress the pdf files too much and you lose all of your important meta data and settings.

worthless

I had a pdf with 1 page with size 1 MB. I needed to reduce the size to 500KB max. The app didnt change the reduced size when I changed the dpi (300 vs 150). Although, the option claimed midium quility, the file was hardly readable even at 300dpi. I just wasted $2 in the trash.

This is awesome product

This is awesome product. You should get it. Reduct image very well. Saved my life. Was looking for this kind of app for long time. Tx developer.
